enjoying the little things in life...

I don't know when it happened, since the past 15 months or so have been a bit blurry due to lack of sleep, but sometime since Parker was born my scale of what provides pure joy has shifted a bit. Case in point. Parker has discovered that he has full control of the air that comes into and goes out of his nose. Also, through this discovery, he has realized that by regulating the intensity of inhales and exhales, he also has control of the movement of substances that happen to be in his nose at any time. This has proven to be quite a fun activity over the past couple of weeks (especially since he seems to have inherited the hayfever genes). Now, when I hold a tissue to his nose he is absolutely thrilled to blow into it. For some reason, I get the biggest kick out of this.

countdown

I'm taking tomorrow off work to move into the house. I can't even stress how excited I am! I'll post pics once we get a bit settled.

swoosh

Jeremy got Park a basketball hoop today. Great form, huh? I think he's a natural.

second home

Well, we've been crashing at my mom's house for over a week now and am getting used to the five outfits that I have to choose from every morning, half-heartedly folded in a laundry basket on the bathroom floor. Park's definitely having fun. dogs. new toys. constant attention from grandparents. How can you go wrong?

flippy floppy luck

After the Lowes's delivery guys couldn't find my house on Saturday (we are on the main drag so go figure), I got a call from their spokesperson saying that when the driver opened the back of the truck during another dropoff the strap came loose and my highly-anticipated beautiful stainless steel double oven (that I happened to get for a STEAL because it was a floor model) fell off of the truck onto its glass face and smashed. I politely turned down their offer to order a replacement "part" (can you imagine how accurately an oven would bake after falling from a height of at least three feet) and instead negotiated for a new in-the-box replacement that should be here in two weeks. It all works out in the end. Right?

in limbo

Well, our move to a house 1.5 miles away is half over. Our stuff (how did we get so much stuff) is currently residing in (1) a very full non-climate controlled storage unit, (2) a friend's 2-car garage, (3) our new garage, and (4) strewn across the main floor of my mom's house. I've been pestering the floor refinishers all morning and am waiting to see if their quote to refinish our floors before we move in makes me faint. If I'm still conscious after reading it, we'll be on our way to the second half of the move....(UPDATE: limbo extended. contractor booked until next Friday!!)

My dad popped in for a visit last weekend - it's great that even though he's several states away he's been able to see baby parker start to turn into little boy parker...It does happen pretty quickly. Just this morning we asked him where his toes were and he bent down and pointed them out! Crazy!

It seems that more and more often I have to make the choice between stopping trouble that is in progress or enjoying the 5 minutes of quiet that it brings and then dealing with the aftermath.

Saying that park was not overly excited about his first haircut would be an understatement.
